Top scorers of annual Golden Horseshoe Test to be honored in June 13 ceremony

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Eighth-grade students awarded the prestigious Knights of the Golden Horseshoe will now receive their knighting on a bench designed and fashioned by their peers.

Beginning Tuesday, June 13, the 2023 class of the Knights of the Golden Horseshoe will use a bench designed by Cabell County students Austin Morrison and Marin Wickline. The pair’s concept was brought to life by woodworking students at the Cabell County Career Technology Center in Huntington.

Morrison and Wickline’s creation received the first place award in West Virginia First Lady Cathy Justice’s Golden Horseshoe Knighting Bench Design Contest. Justice made the announcement at a ceremony at the state’s Culture Center this week.
